What Are The Commonly Used Materials For Tea Bags?

Oct 07, 2022

In recent years, people have paid much attention to the health care effect of tea. In order to promote the promotion of tea, some tea merchants have emphasized the efficacy on the packaging labels, which is easy to cause doubts and disputes about whether the tea commodity should be handled with ordinary food, healthy food or drugs. Therefore, the tea industry reformers hope that the labeling of tea packaging should return to the nature of tea as a daily hobby of natural health to prevent unnecessary disputes.

At present, there are no strict regulations on the tea packaging label, mainly because the tea business is mostly self-produced, self-made and self sold. However, a clear indication of the tea making variety, manufacturing date, origin, manufacturer, drinking method, etc. will help promote tea sales and establish the brand.

The materials generally applicable to tea bags include:

1. PE bag (plastic bag)

Polyethylene bags or PE bags are currently widely used packaging materials. Generally, there are two types of low-density PE bags and high-density PE bags. Low-density PE bags have greater moisture permeability and air permeability, while high-density PE bags are smaller. The advantages of PE bags are economical, cheap, and good moisture resistance, but their disadvantages are light transmission and poor gas resistance, so they cannot be used individually for tea packaging. It is better to use polyethylene bag packaging with another layer to block light and low air permeability. External packaging, such as synthetic paper cans, iron cans, etc.: PE bags have high air permeability, and it is difficult to solve the oxygen problem in the packaging bag, which is not ideal. The packaging material.

2. Metal tin cans

The advantages of metal iron cans are extrusion resistance and good texture. In the early days, they were mainly used for the outer packaging of tea with the inner packaging of PE bags. However, due to their high price and easy corrosion, rust and deformation, they have gradually been eliminated. The smell of paint in the metal tin can and the tightness of the lid is not enough, so it is not suitable to be used alone.

3. Synthetic paper cans

Synthetic paper cans are the most widely used packaging material at present. Its advantages are economical, light, and beautiful, but its air permeability and moisture permeability are still high. It should not be used alone. It is best to use PE bags or aluminum foil laminated bags as inner packaging.

4. Aluminum foil laminated bag

Aluminum foil laminated bags are beautiful and elegant, and have the advantages of being opaque, moisture-proof, and oxygen-resistant, but the price is more expensive than PE bags, and there will be extrusion problems when used alone. Aluminum foil laminated bags can be treated with vacuum or nitrogen or deoxidizer, and combined with packaging cartons or synthetic paper cans, the moisture-proof, gas-blocking, light-proof, and oxygen-free storage of tea can be perfectly solved, and low-temperature storage is the best way for tea. Perfect preservation method.

5. Glass jars, magnetic jars, wooden boxes, cartons

Although glass jars are excellent in gas barrier and moisture resistance, they are light-transmitting, fragile, heavy, and expensive. Magnetic jars or ceramic jars can be protected from light but are fragile and heavy like glass jars. If wooden boxes are not handled properly, it is easy to cause the tea to absorb odor and absorb moisture and breathe freely. Paper boxes or paper bags are easy to absorb moisture and break. These materials are not ideal tea packaging materials. .

6. Nitrogen filling or vacuum packaging

Due to the shrinkage of the packaging bag in vacuum packaging, in order to avoid re-extrusion collision and aesthetics, it is advisable to add outer packaging protection. Nitrogen-filled packaging will expand the bag, and it should not be squeezed to prevent the bag from bursting. Both need to be packaged again, and both have good preservation effects, but the investment is more expensive.
